The history of massage

Sanara_arculat-03.png

The history of massage is ancient and rich, rooted in many cultures and civilizations. This ancient healing art dates back thousands of years and has many interesting twists and turns.

In ancient civilizations, such as ancient China and India, massage was already known and used to preserve and restore the health of the body and soul. In ancient Chinese medicine, massage was used to accelerate the flow of energy and maintain health, while in Indian Ayurvedic medicine, massage helped to remove toxic substances accumulated in the body and restore balance to the body.

Massage also played an important role in Greek and Roman cultures. In Roman baths, for example, massage was part of everyday life, and ancient athletes also regularly used massage to relax and regenerate muscles.

In the Middle Ages in Europe, the popularity of massage decreased due to religious prohibitions, but during the Renaissance, its healing power was rediscovered. In the 19th and 20th centuries, massage came to the fore again, and modern medicine recognized its effectiveness in reducing stress, relieving muscle tension and improving blood circulation.

Today, massage is a widely available and recognized healing and relaxation method that helps maintain and improve the health of the body and soul. Different massage techniques, such as Swedish massage, Thai massage, and shiatsu, aim to balance the body and mind in different ways, but all aim to improve the health and well-being of the whole person.

Thus, massage is more than just a simple exercise - it is an ancient art that has helped people find harmony in their body and soul for thousands of years. We have a wealth of fantastic possibilities for healing if we start to apply the ancient traditional yoga philosophy and, for example, Ayurveda. If you are reading this, you are probably already on the road to recovery.
